No, this isn’t a post dedicated to the rights of others – although, I feel very strongly about freedom of self-expression. This is about the freedom of being able to sit and write a post about whatever you choose just because you own the blog, have the luxury (yes, luxury) of time and energy and you don’t have to cater to a sponsor or worry about the marketability of the post. It’s a choice.
I was reading an article on Design Sponge this morning about how much blogging has changed in the last 10-15 years (has it been that long?!) and feeling very sad that so much about blogging has become commercialized. Don’t get me wrong, making money from a website is amazing – but is that all it has become – just a platform for making money? Well, maybe for some – and that’s okay.
I’m just happy that now, for today, in this moment, I don’t have to worry about any of that. I can just type away and think about adjusting the graphics (my passion) or adding a new category or two or plan my next craft project. Or not.
See? It’s all about freedom. And choices.
So, put away the anxiety of trying to please a sponsor or make money (if only for now) and enjoy the moment, take a breath and make it a good day.
Remember, you matter.
